MSD Buechel Surge Basin Project
B&N Wastewater Storage Project Receives ACEC Kentucky Grand Award
Our company played a crucial role in the construction of the Buechel Surge Basin Project, the largest basin facility developed by the Louisville and Jefferson County Metropolitan Sewer District. This storm surge basin, encompassing approximately 40 acres and with a combined storage volume of 125 million gallons, is designed to handle peak flow discharges and comply with EPA wet weather consent orders. We provided comprehensive construction materials testing services, including rock anchor installation, soil testing, and compaction testing of soils and concrete. Their expertise in dealing with problematic soils and ensuring strict criteria for soil liner permeability was instrumental in the success of this project.
B&N's Buechel Basin Wastewater Storage Facility Project has been recognized as one of the top five engineering projects in Kentucky, receiving the ACEC Kentucky Grand Award. This large-scale facility has a capacity of 104 million gallons and is designed to address Sanitary Sewer Overflows (SSOs), ensuring that untreated wastewater is kept out of local creeks and streams. With a focus on environmental sustainability and public health, this project is a testament to B&N's expertise in providing innovative wastewater storage solutions.
